Protected to Teach: Understanding Educator Legal Rights

As educators, you face challenges every day, and knowing your rights is an important part of protecting yourself and the work you do. NEOEA is here to support you!  Join us on Tuesday, November 10, for the first of our two-part series--Protected to Teach: Understanding Educator Legal Rights--with Labor & Employment Attorney Rachel Reight.

What happens when challenging situations involving students, parents, or working conditions go beyond “just part of the job”? Join NEOEA’s Professional Development Committee for a virtual session exploring educator legal rights, workplace protections, and personal safety.

Learn practical strategies for handling student aggression, threats, harassment, difficult parent interactions, and workplace concerns. Discover when to take action, how to document incidents, and what protections are available to educators.

This is the first of a two-part series, with the second session scheduled for Tuesday, February 9, 2027. Each session will cover different information, and you may attend one or both.
