This year's NEOEA Day is Friday, October 8, 2021. NEOEA Day represents your dues dollars at work. Attending NEOEA Day programs, most of which provide growth opportunities at lower-than-usual prices, is an excellent way to get some of your NEOEA dues dollars back!

The educators who established the North Eastern Ohio Teachers Association in 1869 could not have anticipated many of the changes which have happened in our profession: higher academic standards for teachers, educator unionization, high-stakes testing, and the inclusion of classified staff alongside classroom teachers.

Most of NEOEA’s local affiliates have contracts that reserve NEOEA Day for professional development activities, and many local school districts call the NEOEA office to learn the dates of future NEOEA Days. NEOEA Day will take place on:

  • October 8, 2021
  • October 14, 2022
  • October 13, 2023
  • October 11, 2024
  • October 10, 2025

All our programs are open! Our Status Check has the latest update on each program.

LAST MINUTE PROGRAM ADDITIONS -- both are family-friendly events:

  • For all Physical Education educators -- you have an opportunity to try the Olympic sport of Curling. This two-hour session will teach you the history and basics of the sport, delivery techniques, strategy and how to sweep the rock. A great winter activity for young and old, competitive and recreational, curling has been played all over the world and can be taught to students even WITHOUT ICE!
  • For all educators -- Creativity and Compassion sponsored by the Akron Art Museum. This professional development session explores the value of nurturing emotional intelligence in students and how the field trip experience helps to foster these soft skills in developing young minds.

As always, NEOEA seeks providers of quality programs for the upcoming NEOEA Day. The process of planning NEOEA Day begins in the spring, as NEOEA staff sends Requests for Proposals (RFP) to an extensive mailing list. Members who know of a potential NEOEA Day program provider who is not receiving the RFP packet should encourage the provider to contact the NEOEA office at 216.518.0200 or to receive an RFP and be placed on the distribution list.
